Ello, Ello, Ello
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I wanted to share with you the handouts from the Vogue Digital Archive Demo yesterday if you were not able to attend.
Here’s a link to the 3 documents. The documents give you an overview of how to find, navigate, and use the Vogue Digital Database available for FREE at select New York Public Library locations.
.
One of the exciting things that happened at the demo was being able to find the fashion illustration of Monica Seggos‘ family members illustrated by the famous Carl Erickson in 1946.
After a few uneventful searches, Rebecca Federman, our instructor and NYPL’s Electronics Resource Coordinator, found the illustration by typing in the last name of the family. Simply typing ‘Erickson’ in the search engine gave us too many options and the Vogue issue # pasted atop the illustration seemed to be incorrect. But we found the actual issue the illustration was in and Monica was able to get a little more info and back story behind the sketch.
Who would have thought someone could find a piece of their family history through the Vogue database!!!
This was a meetup I’ll never forget. Thanks to everyone who came out. As always, it’s a pleasure getting together with you guys.
And if you would like to join us at one of our future meetups sign up HERE. Would love to introduce you to the group.
