WYRT creator, Brandon Graham, speaking with students at High School of Fashion Industries.
WouldYouRockThis.com creator Brandon Graham was invited to speak with students at the High School of Fashion Industries (HSFI) in New York of Friday. Ms Dahill, HSFI librarian, organized this event after meeting Brandon at the Andre Studios Fashion Illustration Digital Archive event in February. Ms Dahill connected Brandon with HSFI fashion illustration teacher, Mr. Carranza, to organize a presentation of WouldYouRockThis.com for his students. Not only did Brandon discuss WYRT, but he gave the students a list of resources that could point them in the right direction to becoming a better fashion illustrator. Mr. Carranza shared some of the pieces from his students’ last project where they had to illustrate accessories – what a talented class to say the least.
Kiamesha Smalls, WYRT Operations Mgr and alum of HSFI, also joined in on the presentation by sharing her experience applying to FIT after graduating from HSFI.

It was great to hear how she has been able to make a career out of her passion. Julie is a true inspiration.”
Last year Julie started a blog called Drawing Fashion with tips and tricks for fashion illustrators. The blog will lead into a book to further expand on the subjects covered.

DRAWING FASHION: The Body is designed for teachers and students alike and focuses on an introduction to life drawing concepts as they relate to fashion drawing. Justine Limpus Parish, Associate Professor at Art Center College of Design, recreates her studio classes and class demonstrations on the pages of this book.
Building on basic figure drawing concepts, the book starts with the essence of a successful fashion drawing: gesture, and continues with individual chapters on fashion proportion, drawing the figure in three dimensions, and drawing body parts: heads, hands, feet, high heels, and the fashion leg. Every page is filled with drawings and illustrations to help students understand the concepts discussed. This book makes it easy to build your own fashion pose templates! You will also find links to additional demonstrations on her Blog and You Tube Channel for video demonstrations like this.
